The Reluctant Athlete
Most golfers know they should probably move better.
They know the lower back shouldn’t feel like a rusty gate on the first tee. They know warming up with two practice swings and a sip of flat white is not, strictly speaking, elite preparation. They may even suspect that a little more strength, mobility and general robustness might help them play better golf.
The problem is that “golf fitness” often sounds like something designed for people who own six pairs of Lycra shorts and talk about macros at dinner parties.
That is not what this section is about.
The Reluctant Athlete is for the normal golfer. The busy golfer. The stiff golfer. The golfer who wants to hit it further, play with less pain, recover better, and feel less like they’ve been assembled from spare parts after 18 holes.
This is performance training without the nonsense.
We’ll look at simple ways to move better, get stronger, protect the body, build speed, improve balance, and keep playing the game for longer. No gym-bro sermons. No impossible routines. No pretending you need to live like a tour player to enjoy better golf.
Just practical, honest advice for golfers who know their body matters — even if they’re not quite ready to call themselves an athlete.
Yet.
Stronger, stiffer, wiser.
